I began as an illustrator and printmaker at Camberwell Art School, then went on to the Royal College of Art film and television school in London. My first film about artist Michael Rothenstein, won the College's coveted silver medal. I married Sally Zane soon after and we produced two children, Adam and Myfanwy, who have since become media people in their own right.
Denis Mitchell, one of Britain's leading documentary film-makers asked me to direct for his series This England, and since then, through slog, luck, penury and sheer bloodymindedness I've made some 100 productions.
I joined up with a group of friends in the late '70s to develop interactive productions - (in fact New Media Productions, as we called ourselves, pioneered the Grolier Encyclopaedia on laser disc.) Now I am making short films within the digital domain with my writer wife, Sally.
Being an Aquarian with a Gemini ascendant (exactly the same degree as PM Blair, (for what it's worth) I am interested in too many things - but then Life is for exploring, so why not? Drawing, touring megalithic sites, divining with the I Ching and Runes - all these fascinate. Now we have Uranus entering Pisces, maybe all these will come to the fore - who knows?
